FRAUD ALERT! LA Salle County Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning About Fake Warrant Scams

You should be aware of a new fraud that is currently going around that is being circulated.

It has been brought to the attention of the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office that con artists pretending to be representativaes of the sheriff’s office are contacting, texting, or emailing individuals with information about warrants.

Always keep in mind that the sheriff’s office will never contact you via phone, text message, or email regarding warrants that are still active.

If you receive a call that appears to be a fraud of this nature, you should inquire about the caller’s name or even their badge number. Never, ever, ever give anybody details about your credit card or bank account. Scammers may use fear tactics or threats, so you should be wary of them.

If you are doubtful of something, it is never a bad idea to hang up and report any suspicious behavior.
