Heartbreaking! Popular Hudson Valley Restaurant with NYT Praise Closes!

In a surprising and bittersweet announcement, one of the Hudson Valley’s most cherished restaurants, Aqui Es Santa Fe, has revealed that it will soon close its doors after nearly two decades of serving the Port Chester community.

The family-owned Colombian restaurant, rated “very good” by the New York Times in 2017, has long held a reputation for its fresh, authentic dishes and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant’s last day of service will be on Sunday, November 10.

Aqui Es Santa Fe was founded 17 years ago by Olga Santos during the 2008 recession. Santos opened the restaurant in Port Chester, New York, with a mission to bring people together through delicious Colombian cuisine and excellent service.

“What started as a dream became one of the greatest joys and blessings of our lives,” the restaurant owners wrote on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support they’ve received over the years.

“We thank God for having shared Aqui Es Santa Fe with you. We want to thank each person who sat at our table and became part of our family in these 17 years.”

The eatery quickly became one of Westchester County’s highest customer-rated dining spots, earning accolades for its empanadas, arepas, ceviche, and a variety of entrees that highlighted authentic Colombian flavors.

In 2020, Aqui Es Santa Fe was named one of the “best” restaurants in Westchester County, adding to its growing list of recognitions.

However, despite its loyal following and critical acclaim, Aqui Es Santa Fe is being forced to close due to redevelopment in Port Chester.
