New Jersey Dad Gets 25-year Sentence After 6-year-old Son Dies From Treadmill Injuries

An Ocean County father was given a 25-year prison term for the death of his 6-year-old son by a New Jersey judge.

Police say a video from March 20, 2021, shows Christopher Gregor putting his son Corey on a fast-moving machine and falling off of it several times. Thirteen days later, police were called to the Southern Ocean Medical Center to report that the boy had died.

After the boy’s death, an autopsy showed that he had been hurt by direct force trauma.

Gregor was first charged by police on July 7, 2021, with putting a child in danger.

It was later found that the boy had been killed, which led to charges of murder being made against the boy’s father almost a year after the boy had died.

After being tried and found not guilty of murder, he was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter and endangering the safety of a child on May 31, 2024.

A judge gave Gregor 20 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter and 5 years for endangering the safety of a child on Friday. Both lines come one after the other.

Because of the No Early Release Act, Gregor must serve at least 85% of his prison term before being considered for parole.

“Christopher Gregor will know for the rest of his life that he killed his son Corey.” Even though this sweet child can’t be returned to his family, I hope that Corey’s term today gives those who knew and loved him peace. The prosecutor, Bradley Billhimer, said, “At last, justice has been done for Corey.”
