North Carolina Fedex Driver Charged With Animal Cruelty After French Bulldog Dies in Delivery Van

A FedEx driver has been arrested after reportedly stealing a French bulldog and abandoning her in his scorching delivery vehicle, where she died, according to North Carolina police.

Kimani Marshall, 44, faces accusations of dog larceny, possession of stolen goods or property, and animal cruelty. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office believes Marshall stole the tan and white dog named Tori, worth $5,500, while on his route on July 3, when the dog allegedly escaped. He then proceeded to deliver packages.

“Investigators believe that K-9 Tori died due to heat-related issues as she traveled inside the FedEx truck, where temperatures were reportedly in the 90s,” Sheriff Wayne Coats stated in a statement.

On July 10, cops recovered the dog’s body. Marshall and the dog’s owner knew each other. Marshall asked the owner whether she was interested in reproducing the dog, but she declined, according to Coats.

Marshall turned himself in at the Harnett County Detention Center on Monday. He has now posted a $50,000 bond.

FedEx confirmed in a statement that Marshall is no longer with the company.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family on the loss of their beloved pet,” according to a release. “We recognize the value of people’s pets in their lives and sincerely regret the grief this has caused. “The driver is no longer providing FedEx services.”

The owner posted her desperate search for the dog on Facebook. She claimed that Tori had escaped on the evening of July 3 Lawandcrime stated.

“We are heartbroken, to say the least. Tori will not survive being out in the heat. I hope someone picked her up. “Please help me find Tori,” she wrote. Tori’s microchip indicated that she had been picked up, according to the owner. On July 10, cops contacted her to report they had discovered the dog dead on the side of the road. She then announced to her Facebook friends that an arrest warrant had been obtained in the case.
