Paramus Police Reunite Boy with Autism and Father After Two-Hour Search
A 13-year-old boy with autism was safely reunited with his father after a two-hour search by the Paramus Police Department.
The boy wandered off from his home near Split Rock Road around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 27.
Authorities swiftly launched a search operation, utilizing the police drone unit and social media alerts to involve the public.
Officer Jason Hall spotted the boy walking along Fairview Avenue, half a mile from his home, around 10:20 a.m., ending the search successfully.
The boy, described as a 5’9″ Black male wearing a black tracksuit and red and white sneakers, wandered away early in the morning, prompting immediate concern.
The police’s quick response included aerial surveillance and public outreach via social media, which helped maintain community awareness during the search.
Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti praised the efforts of the department, particularly Officer Hall, for safely locating the boy.
The boy was reunited with his father shortly after being found. This case highlights the importance of rapid intervention, collaboration, and advanced technology like drones in ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals.
