Shocking News: Illegal Sale of Crocodile Meat in NYC Specialty Shop!

New York State authorities recently uncovered an illegal sale of exotic meat in a specialty meat shop. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) revealed that crocodile meat was being sold without proper permits. This discovery was made as part of their ongoing “Environmental Conservation Police on Patrol” initiative.

The DEC’s latest report not only highlighted this illegal sale but also mentioned that forest rangers had dealt with six snake-related complaints in Upstate New York. One report even noted that snakes were seen mating near a home.

The crocodile meat incident came to light after a tip-off from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The DEC, along with undercover officers from the New York City Police Department (NYPD), investigated a specialty shop in Lower Manhattan.

They found dried crocodile meat being sold without the necessary permits. In New York, selling alligator, crocodile, and caiman products require special permits, which the store lacked.

The exotic meat, known for being a “healthy alternative” to more common meats like chicken or fish, was seized by the authorities. The store now faces a misdemeanor charge and could be fined up to $5,000 for the unlawful sale.
