Toledo TEEN SENTENCED TO 11-17 YEARS FOR SHOOTING DEATH of 15-year-old Jaden Skaggs in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – On Monday, a 17-year-old was sentenced on a charge related to the shooting death of Jaden Skaggs, a kid hailing from Toledo, in the year 2023.

On Monday, Dimar Smith, who was 16 years old at the time of the shooting, entered a guilty plea to one count of involuntary manslaughter in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court and was tried for the crime.

Afterward, a judge handed down a sentence of 11 to 17 years in jail for Smith. As a result of the occurrence, he was evaluated as an adult.

Smith was taken into custody a little more than a week later, and he was subsequently indicted in September 2023 on two charges of murder and one count of felonious assault for the shooting that took place in April 2023 and resulted in the death of Skaggs, who was 15 years old at the time this incident occurred.

Skaggs was discovered by the police in the Ravine Park Village Community Center on the afternoon of April 10, 2023, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Later, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital.
