President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet Expands with Two Texans: Scott Turner and Brooke Rollins!
WASHINGTON — As President-elect Donald Trump’s administration continues to take shape, two Texans have been selected for key positions. Scott Turner, a former state legislator, and NFL cornerback has been nominated to be the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Brooke Rollins, a Texas lawyer with deep ties to conservative causes, has been chosen to head the Department of Agriculture.
Both Turner and Rollins are well-known in Texas. They are natives of North Texas, and this will mark their second time working in Trump’s administration.
Greg Sindelar, CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, expressed his excitement about their nominations. He noted, “I like to see Texas leading, and it’s great to have two Texans I know very well joining the president’s cabinet. I think it not only bodes well for the state, but for the country as well.”
The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a conservative think tank, and Rollins once served as its head. She is an experienced leader with a strong background in policy, having earned degrees from Texas A&M University and the University of Texas School of Law.
Before her nomination, Rollins served as director of Trump’s domestic policy council in his first term. She later led the America First Policy Institute, which focuses on advancing Trump’s policies.
Officials from the Texas Farm Bureau have voiced their support for Rollins, eager to work with her to boost the state’s critical agricultural industry. “We’ve met Brooke in the past and know her well.
She’s a strong advocate for agriculture,” said Russell Boening, president of the Texas Farm Bureau. “She’s shown leadership from a very young age and has the skills and ability to succeed at this level.”
Turner, Trump’s pick for Housing Secretary, has a diverse background. A former Texas state representative and NFL cornerback, he served as executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump’s first term.
In this role, he worked to encourage private investment in economically distressed areas. Turner is now expected to build on this experience, with a focus on improving urban communities through his new role at HUD.
“He was a great advocate for our urban communities,” Sindelar remarked. “It makes sense for him to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Ben Carson, the previous HUD Secretary, and take their work to the next level.”
With Republicans in control of the Senate, both Turner and Rollins are expected to be confirmed early next year. Their appointments reflect Trump’s ongoing push to reshape his administration with experienced leaders who understand Texas and its role in the nation.
