Motorist Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree, Gate, and Catches Fire in Newark!

A motorist was killed early Sunday morning after his vehicle struck a tree and gate before catching fire on Weequahic Avenue near Bergen Street in Newark, according to authorities.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 3:30 a.m., following reports of a car crash and fire, said Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

Upon arrival, they discovered the vehicle engulfed in flames with a male occupant inside. The car had crashed into a tree and a gate in front of a residence.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but the motorist was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, Fragé stated.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Authorities are continuing to look into the cause of the crash, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
