Manhattan Crime: 42-Year-Old Man Pleads Guilty to Shocking Port Authority Stabbing!
A 42-year-old man named Michael McCloskey has pleaded guilty to the unprovoked stabbing of a 65-year-old carpenter at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, according to an announcement made by District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr.
The incident took place in April 2024, and McCloskey’s guilty plea was entered in the New York State Supreme Court on one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. He now faces a 13-year prison sentence, followed by five years of supervision after his release.
District Attorney Bragg stated, “Today, Michael McCloskey was held accountable for stabbing a man in an unprovoked attack at a public, densely populated transit hotspot. Although the victim has thankfully recovered, he must live with the physical scars this attack has caused.”
The attack occurred in the early morning of April 22, 2024, at around 5:40 a.m. The victim, a carpenter, was sitting near a Hudson News store while waiting for a coworker at the bus terminal. According to court documents and McCloskey’s admission, McCloskey approached the man from behind and, without any provocation, attacked him.
He stabbed the carpenter nine times, targeting the neck, throat, back, and arm. The injuries were severe, and the victim was quickly transported to Bellevue Hospital. There, doctors provided 47 stitches to treat his wounds and offered further medical care.
The quick response of the Port Authority Police officers prevented the situation from becoming worse. Officers who were patrolling nearby heard the commotion and rushed to the scene. Upon their arrival, they found McCloskey standing over the injured man with a knife in hand. McCloskey was immediately arrested at the scene without further incident.
This case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Sidney Balman III, alongside Trial Bureau 60 and officers from the Port Authority Police Department. Officers Jordan Eugenis and Antonio Peterson, along with detectives Kevin Horowitz and Alberto Barrera, played key roles in responding to the emergency and ensuring the investigation proceeded efficiently.
As the legal process concludes, McCloskey will face 13 years behind bars for his actions. The sentence not only serves justice but also highlights the swift action of law enforcement in protecting the public from further harm.
