Shocking San Jose Hit-and-Run: Victim Pinned Under Minivan in Fatal Attack!
A man was arrested in San Jose for a deadly hit-and-run accident that left a victim trapped under a minivan early Tuesday morning. The incident happened around 5 a.m. when police received reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at North Capitol Avenue and Berryessa Road.
When officers arrived, they found an unconscious adult male pinned beneath the minivan. Despite efforts from medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver fled the scene before police arrived. Initial investigations revealed that the collision was not an accident, and authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Edward Herrera, a resident of San Jose.
Later that day, detectives from the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit located Herrera and took him into custody. He is now facing murder charges and is being held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after confirming his identity and notifying his family. The police are still looking into the motive and details surrounding the incident, which marks the 27th homicide in San Jose this year.
