Teens Wanted: Police Search for Gun Store Robbers in Fairfax County!
Fairfax County, Virginia – Police in Fairfax County are investigating a crime spree allegedly carried out by teenagers, including the theft of more than a dozen guns. Some of the stolen firearms have been found, but others are still on the streets.
Surveillance footage from the incident shows a car smashing through the glass of Dominion Defense, a gun store in Springfield, in mid-September. The video also shows the suspects running in and out of the store, stealing 14 guns.
“This was a bold crime, tragically committed by teenagers,” said Kevin Davis, Fairfax County’s police chief.
So far, authorities have recovered eight of the stolen weapons, and three arrests have been made in connection with the robbery. However, police believe the same group of teens is responsible for other criminal activities.
“These crimes didn’t just involve guns; they were accompanied by violent behavior,” said Maj. Elizabeth Melendez of Fairfax County Police.
Detectives have linked a series of violent crimes throughout Fairfax County to the same group of suspects or their associates.
These incidents include robberies, car thefts, an abduction, and even shootings. As of now, seven individuals have been arrested, with all of them being minors, except for one who is 18 years old. “The ages of those involved in these crimes are shocking,” Chief Davis said.
This is not the first time that teens have been involved in gun store burglaries in the area. FOX 5 previously reported similar incidents in May 2023 and again in August of the same year. Authorities have also noted that the same gun store in Springfield was targeted unsuccessfully in July.
“There is a noticeable trend of juveniles breaking into gun stores, not only in Fairfax County but across the nation,” said Anthony Spotswood, Special Agent In Charge with the ATF.
Fairfax County police are urging anyone with information about this latest robbery to contact them. They believe the suspects could also be responsible for other crimes in the area.
