3 Arrested After Intense NYPD Search in Chaotic Bronx Subway Shooting
In a tragic incident on a southbound D train in the Bronx, 45-year-old William Alvarez lost his life in a senseless shooting. Last week, chaos erupted at the 182-183 Streets station as Justin Herde, 24, Betty Cotto, 38, and Alfredo Trinidad, 42, were arrested by the US Marshals Service in connection with the fatal encounter.
Alvarez, an innocent stranger already on the train, found himself embroiled in a heated argument with one of the alleged assailants. The situation escalated when the dispute turned physical, resulting in a three-on-one attack. Shockingly, one of the suspects fired at least one shot into Alvarez’s torso before the trio fled as the train pulled into the station.
The NYPD quickly identified the suspects and initiated a citywide manhunt, leading to the joint efforts of federal and local law enforcement agencies. The successful collaboration culminated in the arrest of all three individuals inside a Bronx apartment. Notably, the suspected murder weapon was confiscated during the operation, providing a crucial piece of evidence for the ongoing investigation.
