Schenectady Resident Receives 11-Year Sentence for Drug and Gun Crimes

Jeffrey C. Civitello Jr., a 24-year-old resident of Schenectady, has been sentenced to eleven years and one day in prison for his involvement in drug and firearm offenses. This sentencing follows his guilty plea to charges related to a drug trafficking conspiracy spanning from 2019 to 2021. Civitello Jr. admitted to participating in a conspiracy to acquire and distribute over 100 kilograms of marijuana during this period.

The conspiracy came to light when the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration executed a federal search warrant at Civitello Jr.’s residence on October 21, 2021. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered approximately 75 pounds of marijuana, along with over $400,000 in cash and a 14-karat Miami Cuban chain.

Additionally, a loaded Taurus Judge Public Defender revolver and a loaded Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle equipped with a high-capacity magazine were found, which Civitello Jr. admitted were intended for his protection and the safeguarding of his illicit activities.

In a separate trial held in April 2023, Civitello Jr. was found guilty of cocaine offenses. Alongside his father, Jeffrey C. Civitello Sr., and three others, he was convicted of conspiring to traffic approximately 15 kilograms of cocaine in March and April 2021. Civitello Sr. received a ten-year prison sentence for his involvement in the conspiracy.

In addition to the prison term, Civitello Jr. has been ordered to forfeit various assets, including the $407,545 in cash seized during the search, the firearms and ammunition discovered, and the Miami Cuban chain. He will also serve five years of post-release supervision following the completion of his prison sentence. Additionally, he has agreed to the entry of a $250,000 money judgment against him.

The conviction came after a trial held in April 2023, where Civitello Jr. was found guilty of the charges brought against him. His father, Jeffrey C. Civitello Sr., also received a ten-year prison sentence for his role in the conspiracy.

In addition to the prison sentence, Civitello Jr. has been ordered to forfeit assets acquired through his illegal activities, including $407,545 in cash and any firearms and ammunition associated with the conspiracy.
