The suspects lured the victim using a popular dating app, resulting in a robbery at gunpoint. On a Sunday evening, just before 7 p.m., the Troy Police responded to a distress call in the area of Congress Street and Cypress Street. The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint after meeting someone through a dating app.
Fortunately, the victim remained uninjured during the ordeal. According to the victim’s statement, he had been communicating with a female on the dating app, who suggested a meeting near an alleyway in the specified area.
The victim’s encounter took a dangerous turn when he arrived at the agreed-upon location and was confronted by two male suspects. The suspects brandished what appeared to be handguns and demanded the victim’s property. After the robbery, the victim promptly contacted the police, providing crucial information about the incident.
Troy Police Detectives, in collaboration with the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center, worked swiftly to identify a potential vehicle linked to the suspects. Their efforts were bolstered when, on Tuesday evening, a Troy Officer spotted the identified car on 2nd Street near Canal Street in South Troy.
Concerned about the weapons reportedly involved in the initial incident, the police conducted a high-risk traffic stop, resulting in the arrest of all occupants.
The three arrested individuals were identified as Katrina D. Carroll (24), William G. Camino (18), and Terry D. Adams Jr. (18), all residents of Troy. Charges filed against them include multiple counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree robbery, and second-degree robbery.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery and seizure of two loaded, illegal handguns—one equipped with an extended magazine. This finding underscores the severity of the situation and raises questions about the prevalence of illegal firearms in the community.
Katrina D. Carroll faces charges of two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree robbery, and second-degree robbery. William G. Terry D. Adams Jr. is also charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first and second-degree robbery.
